Canteen and Locker Room Vocabulary for Manufacturing Workers

Not all workplace vocabulary is about the production line. Before and after your shift, you'll also spend time in the locker room, the canteen, or the admin building for various errands. This vocabulary covers those areas, outside the assembly line itself.

The Locker Room

  • locker — "Your locker number is on the door."
  • key
  • uniform — usually a set of coveralls.
  • changing area

Example: "Put your bag in your locker before your shift."

The Canteen

  • canteen
  • menu
  • meal — "What time is the meal break?"
  • vending machine

Example: "See you in the canteen for lunch."

The Admin Building

  • office — such as the HR office or the team leader's office.
  • reception
  • form — "Fill out this form."
  • sign in / sign out

Example: "Please sign in at reception before you go to the office."
